Overview
Owen G. Davitt, a graduate of the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University, is an accomplished musician and educator. As a multi-instrumentalist and liturgical musician, he offers personalized instruction on a wide range of instruments, including:

Beyond private lessons, Owen is an active composer and performer. His compositions have been premiered by renowned ensembles such as Double Entendre, BETA Flute Quartet, and the National Recorder Orchestra of Great Britain, reflecting his passion for writing for diverse ensembles and advocating for rare woodwind instruments like the contrabass and contralto clarinet. Owen's catalog includes numerous solo and chamber works, with over 100 completed pieces, many of which are multi-movement compositions. He is also the proud co-owner and co-founder of D.S. Musiks, a new music publishing company that champions living composers and their new works for various instruments and ensembles.
As a performer, Owen freelances across the tri-state area and is a member of several ensembles, including La Fiocco (recorder player and composer), the New Jersey Opera Theater (oboist), and the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra (oboist). Additionally, he curates and performs in various concerts at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where he serves as the Minister of Music, organist, and choir director. He also maintains an active freelance performance schedule throughout the tri-state region.
Dedicated to fostering the next generation of musicians, Owen serves as the Director of Advocacy and Secretary of the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, promoting the clarinet and its rich repertoire. He is passionate about raising awareness of new works and programs available to clarinet enthusiasts worldwide.
With a decade of experience in education, Owen has successfully revitalized instrumental and choral music programs. He holds a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. in Educational Leadership.
